Rambler's Way - David Dipnall
Original Oil on Canvas in ornate frame measuring 88cm wide * 54cm tall
David Dipnall (1941-2023) was born in Jedburgh, Scotland during the early war years to English parents. He received his education at Portsmouth Grammar School on the South Coast of England.
Initially, he went into Engineering Design but gave this up in 1968 when he and his wife, Audrey, decided to travel the world in a Land Rover before settling in Australia for five years.
During this time, David worked in product design and later taught at a Grammar School. On his return to England in the summer of 1974, David Dipnall became a professional artist in response to the demand for his work.
He soon became regarded as one of the foremost English landscape artists of the 21st Century, with his work on many best seller lists. In more recent years, he returned to live in Scotland, to the Isle of Skye, which would provide a rich source of inspiration for his paintings right up until the end of his life.
David Dipnall is now regarded as one of the best traditional English country landscape painters. His evocative images of restful pastoral scenes of Southern England are recognised both nationally and internationally, epitomising all that is endearing about traditional art values in English Landscape. David’s paintings of his beautiful and fertile homeland are a world away from Australia, where he now spends most of his time. In the last decade, David estimates that he has travelled nearly 2 million miles, continuing to maintain a busy work schedule of exhibitions and regularly commuting between England and Australia.
His originals are highly sought after, and over fifty of David’s images have been published as Limited Edition Prints; many of which have sold out. In 2002 he was awarded the Best-Selling Published Artist Award.
