These lovely original oils on canvas are a pair of paintings of a stag in the wild. The artist is Walter Bollier who painted in Switzerland from the 1920s until he died in the 1970s.
Born in 1878 in Zurich, Switzerland he attended the Zurich Art School (Kunstgewebeschule), then the academies of Florence and Munich.
This pair are wonderfully eccentric, but they feel like they have a story to tell.
W. Bollier sells well – having achieved prices between £1,500 - £2,000 at Christies.
